Infrared saunas and skin treatment

Perhaps the benefit of an infrared sauna that is most surprising is the positive effect it has on skin, cellulite, wrinkles, eczema and psoriasis. The perspiration that occurs during a sauna session helps remove harmful toxins deep in the pores, as well as dead skin cells.

Moreover, the increased circulation brings fresh nutrients to the surface of the skin.  The result is a marked improvement in skin elasticity and beautification.  A study in the Journal of Cosmetic and Laser Therapy reported significant improvements in skin appearance after just 12 weeks of sauna skin therapy.  participants saw a reduction in wrinkles, crow's feet, and improved skin tone, including softness, elasticity, clarity and firmness.

Infrared saunas also improve cellulite, which is essentially pockets of fat containing toxins.  Cellulite is composed of fat, acidic waste, and trapped water.  The more toxins we accumulate, the more fat is produced to store them.  As we remove toxins in an infrared sauna, our fat shrinks as well.  Many dermatologists prescribe infrared saunas for patients that suffer from eczema and psoriasis, to bring them marked relief.

Psoriasis is actually a liver disorder, which occurs when certain toxins from food can't be eliminated in the liver.  They are sent out to the fatty cells so the body can eliminate them through sweating.  Eczema sufferers have noted a significant increase in the reduction of redness and itching after consistent infrared sauna sessions.  Likewise, acne sufferers notice a huge improvement in their acne after just three weeks of infrared sauna sessions.
